We are Elina and Andie, the designers and founders of the brand “meraki”, based in Greece. Meraki is a Greek word that describes the soul, creativity or love put into what you do; It is the essence of yourself in your work. Our brand, Meraki, is the answer to οur need for pure design and the ambition to create timelessly beautiful products. Simplicity and beauty: this is what Meraki is all about. Our new collection features minimal leather backpacks and shoulder bags. Inspired by untranslatable words from all over the world, Meraki bags are named using unique words indicating imperceptible and delicate moments in human practices. Natural elements, clean shapes and colours come together to form a simple yet special design. All products are made from 100% genuine top grain leather and are carefully handcrafted in order to create a unique, timeless product.

Design is a challenge that offers the opportunity to change the way people view the world and themselves.

Who we are and who we become, depends, in part, on what we love. Therefore, we, Elina and Andie, are two Greek designers who have emerged from our strong need to create. Having a common background in education, currently studying architecture and museology, we are totally fresh in the field of design. Meraki is our way to express ourselves. Our collaboration is a paradox, yet it was inevitable. Both are passionate about aesthetics and design, while seen from different perspectives in a way that we complete each other. What inspires us is the kindness of people, sincere spaces that breathe soul and atmosphere, sculpture, and sunsets from an airplane. Our most recent inspiration has been our visit to Niarchos Park in Athens, designed by Renzo Piano.

Design is a challenge that offers the opportunity to change the way people view the world and themselves. It is powerful and fascinating. In our latest project, we chose to work with the bag, an item both functional and at the same time a fetish. The specific difficulty (and challenge) of designing this item is to gracefully balance between lure and rationality. We hope that all those who choose to wear a Meraki bag will radiate with the glow of inspiration!
