I work with a variety of mediums to create installational pieces, providing a scale of temporary spatial experiences by appropriating, reducing and/or enhancing certain fragments and qualities of my momentary territories. In my most recent work, I use food as a medium to create site specific installations at events and exhibitions. I question foods materiality and make an attempt to rearticulate certain aspects of it in correspondance to the context it is found in. Influenced by my passion for cooking and my strong affinity for haptics and textures, I create thematic edible pieces. A collection of various edibles come together as an installation connecting themselves to the site they are placed into and showing the interrelation within the work. The pieces I deploy are in a constant dialogue with the spaces they occupy, inviting the viewer into a story by offering distinct narratives. In fact, the audience becomes a performer of this story, as it consumes the installation by interacting with food. “edible landscapes” create the situation where from being an installation in space the piece gives a viewer a ‘stage’ to perform an eating act.

Alongside my personal practice, I initiate and run The Sajeria _Foodtruck, a mobile platform for food-related art practices. The __ Sajeria Foodtruck hosts an ongoing event series called Cooking Acts & Kitchen Dialogues. For each of these events an artist is invited to take over The __ Sajeria Foodtruck for a day, to appropriate and utilize its space for the presentation or performance of their work. The format of these events varies according to each artist’s practice, and might be anything from a performance, talk, or lecture, to a cooking residency. However, food acts as the frame for each event, and is always present. The __ Sajeria Foodtruck Platform also hosts regular seated events known collectively as The Dinner Series. These events are aimed at celebrating the social nature of communal meals as well as the aesthetic potential of food and eating. Each dinner is unique in its concept, food, atmosphere and participants. Outside of the event times, The __ Sajeria Foodtruck appears as “The Lebanese Sajeria Foodtruck” serving a variety of lebanese everyday foods.

Throughout the year, The __ Sajeria Foodtruck can be found from 11:00 to 15:00, Tuesday through Thursday, at the Sandberg Insitute in Amsterdam, as well as at other times in various other locations (see website for upcoming events).
