Meet Imre Bergmann. Her design label *by Imre Bergmann is a label with pure, handmade products of porcelain. You absolutely can’t be in a hurry during production. Ceramic product is a truly ’slow’ product. People are often amazed how much time the whole ceramic process takes up. We are happy to give away two lovely handmade necklaces of porcelain by Imre Bergmann.
Inspired by my graduation project ’World tableware’ – a conceptual tableware design that would bring together and unite people of different cultures by getting them to eat together – I have focused fully on working with ceramics since my studies, and in this way my design label *by Imre Bergmann has come into existence. It is a label with pure, handmade products of porcelain, and more. The ceramic process is very special and extremely inspiring because you never cease to learn, and each new project teaches you something new. The process really involves craftsmanship. In fact it is a continuous exploration of the possibilities of working with the materials. People are amazed when they hear how much is involved in the production process, and how much time the whole ceramic process takes up. In fact a ceramic product is a truly ’slow’ product. You absolutely can’t be in a hurry during production. I really like this, at a time when everything seems to be going faster and faster.
My designs often have an underlying message. For example with the Positive Vibes tableware, which is full of happy prints and texts like ‘enjoy your day’, ‘taste with your senses’ and ‘relaxing cup of tea’, I help people to appreciate that eating can be a moment of rest, and that it is important to enjoy eating. In contrast to the hectic society that we live in.
About design label *by Imre Bergmann
My products all share a certain simplicity and minimalism. This can be in both their form and their colours. I create all the designs by hand in my studio. I really love making things and to me it is wonderful to be able to work with my hands, and so to create something! You have to be fully focused on your products if you work with ceramics and you can’t be thinking about anything else. Above all this applies in the case of the production of porcelain, because porcelain is highly susceptible to distortion.
